Default Phone mute button

Hello everyone!
I'm new to these forums, new to Ford and, therefore, new to the Fusion I just got my new Fusion 2008 3.0 SEL TODAY
I have a question... What good is the button that has a phone icon on it, if it always displays the "No phone" message when pressed?
What do I have to do to hook up my phone or something? Can't it work like a "dim audio" or just a normal mute button?
By the way, my car doesn't have SYNC

Welcome.

How is it hooked up to your radio system? Blue tooth or a hard line? I am not familiar with the system, but if it is hardlined, and it is suppose to mute your phone, it may not be the radio button not working, butthe capabilities of the cell phone or a setting in your cell phone to use that function.

How can I pair up my phone then?

Is it bluetooth? You will need to get the manual for your car and cell phone and follow the procedures to set up a bluetooth connection. You basically tell you phone to check for bluetooth, if you have that capability on you phone, and in the radio. The radio needs to be on, your cell should see the signal. You click on the signal, and it will ask for a 4 digit number that you need from the car manual. Like I said though, your phone needs to be bluetooth capable and so does the radio.

When all is done, depending on your phone, when you get into the car, some phones find it, but like mine, if I use a bluetooth device, I need to tell my phone to connect to it. I think it is a security thing. I can set it to have bluetooth on all the time and when I get into the range of one that I have set up, it will connect. But I have it set where I manually tell it to turn on so the bluetooth isn't always on on my phone.

I tried to do this with my phone and several other Bluetooth-enabled phones from my friends (including my wife's iPhone) and I couldn't do it.

I made the phones "visible" and tried to look from devices (in the phones) and nothing. While doing this, I pressed the "phone button" from my Fusion several times, held it pressed and nothing.

Hello, I have worked for Ford for 3 years and I do currently own an 07 SE v6 Fusion. I hope that I can be of service so here I go... Im guessing that your fusion is an 2008 model and you probibly got it from a sales person that has no knowledge of the product. Your model if it has MICROSOFT SYNC then the BlueTooth Phones you own are fine. Check your right hand side of your steering colum and then check if it has a (little talking head) with theMEDIAbutton labled next to it then yours is equiped with SYNC. Now if you do have these features on your Fusion start the car and press the bottom button on the colum that looks like a PHONE. press it. Your non navigation radio will read (NO PHONE PAIRED). Now on your radio there is the MENU button and above it is an UP button and a Down button. Just below the Menu button their is a number 6/OK button. Hope your still following me! press the OK/6 button then the radio will display add a new device? press the OK button. You can use the up & down arrows to check all the features available. Once you have pressed OK to add a device, SYNC will then say (Press ok to begin parring a device). With BlueTooth turned on,and on your phone, then SYNC will give you a password such as (245677). SYNC will then tell you (Search for SYNC on your device then press ok to begin pairing a device). YOUR ALMOST DONE! Enter the password on your Phone and your done. SYNC will tell you that your all ok.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write all the instructions!

However, my car doesn't have SYNC I wish it did, but I live in Venezuela, and they don't come with that feature here.

It's a Ford Fusions 2008 3.0 SEL. Is there any way to pair up my phone with the car, if I don't have SYNC? I ask because, until now, the button that looks like a Phone is useless! I don't know why it includes it if it's not going to work withouth SYNC. I press that button and I only get a NO PHONE message.
