Default 67 Mustang brake lights not working

Okay, I removed my rear tail lamp assamblies to primer the body. I reinstalled the tail lamps and now my brake and back up lights will not illuminate. The parking lights and turn signals still work fine. I replaced the brake light switch under the dash, but still they do not work. Any ideas? Are the tail lamp assamblies suspose to be grounded to the body of the car or are the gaskets suspose to insulate them from grounding? Thanks.

The body of your Mustang is the ground for all eletrical systems. The gaskets prevents the tail light housing from rubbing on the tail panel and causing chipped paint and rust. The tail light housings are grounded through the 4 housing mounting bolts inside the trunk. I assume primer/paint is thick enough that it is preventing a good ground. Try jumping a wire from the housing bolts to a good contact in the trunk. Jim G.
