Default 17.5 MPG Average for 96' 4.0 manual??

I have a 96' 4.0 ranger. It is manual. I am getting about 17.5 mpg on average. Is this a pretty average fuel economy? It seems to idle rough. I changed plugs and wires, fuel filter, and tried seafoam in the gas. Should I try to remove a vacuum line and suck some seafoam straight into the intake and put the rest into the gas? Motorvac carbon clean a good idea?? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Default RE: 17.5 MPG Average for 96' 4.0 manual??

what do you mean by idle roughly if it sits at around 3 grand then slowly drops then the iac is bad, and yes that average economy for the 4L, i was getting around 13 with my ranger when i had the a4ld and no overdrive

Thumbs up 17.5 mpg

If you can find Ethanol free gasoline, your mpg should increase 2 to 4 mpg.
