UPDATED - I have a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT. 3-4 times a week now, maybe more, it completely loses power. No warning. It used to do this when I was stopped at a red light or in parking lot. All of the sudden, no power. Have to wait 1 full minute, then try to turn the key. It usually starts back up. Recently, it lost all power as I was driving on a city street. Check engine light came on. No code logged in computer. Waited one minute, then turned car on. If I try to turn car on before 1 minute goes by, there is absolutely no sound, nothing. No response. Mechanic tried reversing relay - that didn't work. Checked connections to battery and engine - they are fine. Any other suggestions?

Hi all -
Still having the electrical problem. Quitting more often now. Doesn't matter if I'm going 45mph or faster or slower, the darn thing will quit whenever. Getting to the point now where I have to take the long way everywhere so I can be in the right hand lane of the street and be able to pull over so I'm not in anyone's way when it does quit. I really need some help here. Any suggestions at all? The last one that was posted didn't work, and my mechanic has tried reversing the relay, which also didn't work. Please help!

I can try and assume, but may not be correct. But hopefully give you a place to look. Since you have checked all the connection in the motor
Maybe your PCU is going bad. Or check the connections for the PCU to make sure they are all on.

I like guessing games, kinda hard if you dont have your hands on the vechile, have you checked the Ignition switch ?( not the key switch } I had one awhile back customer had a similar problem it would just die out. also a faulty connection at the fuel pump would do this too..
Another common problem I have found is the wiring to the interia switch, the connecter is faulty an makes intemitt connection . A bad connection at the fuse box - had that one awhile back on a ranger, you could lightly tug on the wiring harness under the hood an she would die rite out .
Also had one a few weeks ago customer had an aftermarket alarm system in the vechile, the start relay was getting hot an breaking contact, it would kill the truck , but then start back up again ., Good luck let us know what you find
