2004 ford ranger
Have a ford ranger that takes a lot of cranking to start. There is no pressure at fuel rail with key on. When I start cranking it goes to 20lbs and finally starts. If I spray starter fluid in it it starts immediately and runs fine. Had just the fuel pump replaced but no change. Appreciate any help.

First, do you here the fuel pump run for the 1-2 seconds when you first turn the key on?
Second, Try turning the key on and off two or three times before going to the start position. You do need to wait a couple of seconds between on-off cycles. If that makes it start faster there may be a problem with the check valve in the intank unit that is supposed to prevent drainback to the tank. Let us know what you find.
