Default 2004 Ranger uneven brake pad wear

I'm have a huge problem with my outside front pads are wearing out way before the inside pads. Yesterday my left outside pad had wore down to wear the metal dug into my rotor. The inside pad still looks almost new. The right set of pads was almost as bad. This is the second set of pads that have done this. I've removed the calipers and can't see anything binding or frozen. Any ideas?

have you taken out the pins on the caliper, cleaned them up and put antisieze on them to make sure that they slide?? this sounds like the problem that i had on my car earlier this year.

I tried that the first time, but I may pull the brakes again this weekend and give it another shot. Something has to binding somehow, but I can't see it.

i know this was the problem with my car and this seems like the only reasonable explanation for the symptoms you are having...just make sure you clean the pin and the rubber boot it goes into really good and use copper anti-sieze(not grease because it will melt after a little while) let me know if this works or not

There is another, I'll be it strange issue however I have had it twice on two different cars happen, they were both older that yours at this time. But if you do any 4wheelin' you could icrease the chance. That is that the flex line has deteriiorate inside and is valving. It does not always cause the brake to heat up just does not let it releave pressurequickly causing that side brake to stay slightly applied more.I have found this to be the case in which I thought I had a bad caliper, as well as I had it happen were it would cause a slight pullwhenthe brakes were appliedquickly at high speed (over 40mph).

that very well could be..i had a pulling problem on my bronco and i thought it was the caliper so i replaced that and it still did so i replaced the next thing in line which was the flex line..the bronco sat for like 5 years and wasnt suprised that it did..not the first time ive heard of the flex lines collapsing from the inside
