4.6 Mustang GT Ranger

RE: 4.6 Mustang GT Ranger
I can't say I'd want to try a project like that, but anything is possible with the right amount of dollars. If you have a 4x2 ranger, you may be lucky enough to just change out the pcm and still have most of the other modules communicate. If You have a 4x4 I can promise major problems with ABS, Traction Control and any other problems I couldn't begin to think of. I won't even get into the Emissions law troubles you'll encounter no matter how well you patch it all together.
For the mechanics, you'll need a specially built flywheel, bell housing and driveshaft. Sensors in the transmission Will need to be.....
You know what? Nevermind, unless you are an engineer knowledgable in MANY different fields and the high tech equipment needed, I doubt it could be done with the end result being a tolerable operating vehicle. I bet you have a 4.6 lying around and just want to put it to use. The best way is to just sell it for use in another Mustang.

All the troubles listed above are not accurate! The engine will fit, you need to use a trans that was designed for the 4.6L. Other than that, a few easily made brackets and a computer to run the new engine/trans are your only worries. Any decent programmer can program a computer to work for the application. It's probably quite a bit cheaper to put a 302 in, there are kits available with all brackets, radiator and harness. The kit runs approx. $650.
