Default '88 2.3 EFI timing

I am not sure of what to disconnect so that I can time the engine. Under the hood it says to disconnect the wires connection and it looks like it says spout? What do I disconnect and how can I identify it?

Default RE: '88 2.3 EFI timing

it does say SPOUT(Spark output connector) and i think you have a distributor on an '88, right? if so it should be just under or along side the distributor. it should be a single black or white wire that you unplug or a double wire plug that has a blank plastic piece plugged into it(just a shorting bar basically). if it is the double wire plug with the shorting bar, just unplug the plastic shorting bar from the plug(with the key off). if you have a distibutorless ignition like my 91, the spout is a short plug just a few inches from the top plug of the ignition module. when you unplug this it just sets the computer back to base timing, which is usually around 10 degrees, should say on your sticker. hope this helps.
