Default 95 ford ranger not starting

Hope someone can help me.I have a 95 ford ranger, was driving and went to turn, the engine died and hasnt started since. The engine will crank, but acts like its not getting any spark or gas.was told it was the fuel pump, replaced the fuel pump.Still not getting anything.Had a friend put it on one of those computers, and it said that it wouldnt read......when i first got it the the puter said the egr valve was bad.never replaced it but never had problems with it...Please help...........as fast as can be..........thank you........

As fast as fast can be , its like "cctxfish "said need more info , Can you hear the relays kick in , Did you check the fuel cut off switch, Any chance you may be outta gas ( thump on the tank you dont know how many bad fuel gagues I have seen ), Can you spray a lil carb cleaner in the intake an see if it will fire ??, Have you pulled a plug wire to see if its sparking,Was there current going to the pump you replaced ??? Does it sound funny when you crank it over -- like the engine spins real fast , ie broke timing chain / belt ??,

it is a four cylinder,5 speed.there is a very week spark.full fuel tank.already put in a new fuel filter before i found there was no power going to the inertial fuel shut off.nor to the pump.have a good idea that it is in the brain itself.the timing belt has been checked,it is intact.it has never done this before.it has just a little over 110k on it....and a full battery charge...the hand held diagnostic puter said unable to communicate with the PCM.....and sorry about the poor description before.first time here and I was typing it all in before goin to work.....

We've all been guilty of providing not enough information...namely when asking for help because well, we usually haven't thought to check the things that other people would...that's why everyone is here...everyone knows a little about something that someone else may not.

Sounds like your PCM is shot.

Pull the battery cable once and leave it off for a while, hook it up and see if it starts.

later,
Dustin

this is my thoughts also, but was wanting to see if i can get any confirmations....its very hard to get a pcm around here, the price isnt to bad....it's just that its a factory order, and it gonna take anywhere between 5 to 7 working days..a long time without my truck...lol....and theres no getting a used one or one from a salvage yard around here.practically non existant...
