Default 97 ranger radio diagram

Hey everyone I am trying to put a new radio in a 97 ford ranger. I cannot find the proper wiring diagram. The ones I have found show connections being shared by the negative terminal of one speaker and the positive terminal of another. That doesn't seem right to me. Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you looked into the adapters available that allow connecting to the factory plugs without cutting wires? Any car stereo dealer should have them. I'm sure places like Circuit City also have them. I like the adaptersbecause there is no cutting in case you sell the vehicle later and remove the radio.

Yes but I was given the wrong one. This is a gift for someone and I was trying to find a way around it because I have to leave today. Thank you anyway.

Well I got a new plug from the store and it still does not work. I finaly started poping open the speakers to look at the wire there and they have completely different colors. I can't find those colors anywhere in the factory sterio plug. Would it pass through some kind of filter or amp that would alter the signals coming from the radio? please help. Thank you

A 97 could have a couple different setups in there. Look for a Metra 70-1771 or 70-5600.
