a/c compressor in ranger

a/c compressor in ranger
I have a 2000 Ranger 3.0. I was given an a/c compressor out of a 87 Ranger. Can I use this compressor in my truck and if so what problems might arise? Will I have to have the rest of the a/c unit changed over also?
