A/C cycling on and off

A/C cycling on and off
I have 92' Ford Ranger with 2.9 V6. About 11 months ago I had major air conditioning sytem repair: new compressor, hoses, field, hub, disc, cycle switch, and relay. It uses the R134 refrigerant.
I used it heavily last summer here in Arizona. Just this morning now I notice that the clutch cycles on and off about every 8 seconds with little or no cooling effect.
Would it need to be re-charged with refrigerant this soon? Unless the relay is already going bad.
Thanks,
Dave

RE: A/C cycling on and off
From my air-conditioner experience i would say that there might be a leak somewhere. And the AC cycling is a safety feature so it dosent burn itself out whenthe pressure within the system is too low.I would ask the place you got it redone to check for leaks and to look at the valve where the refrigerant is added. and if it not that it may be a faulty switch like you said.
