Default dust cap

hey guys one of my friends that is a mechanic said i have to take the dust cap off to do this i need to take the rest of the transmission bolts off and i need to know what the dust cap is is it the thin peice that like plastic covering the transmission and has a hole for the starter to put in and pull out if i do i will take it off this is for to take off my oil pan. this is the only thing blocking it from coming down and i really dont want to take the engine out unless i really have to there should be some pics to go with it showing the dust cap if it is a dust cap.

Default RE: dust cap

The part with the hole for the starter is called the block plate and most of them don't come off until the motor's out. the dust plate/cover is on the bottom front bolted to the bront of the bellhousing and over the the front of the bottom of the block plate.
