Default RE: engine mounts

It sounds like you're unbolting the engine from the transmission.Put them back if they are the ones at the back of the motor. You need to take off the bolts from the pads the motor is sitting on. Usually you just remove the lower OR upper bolts from the mount (taking off the upper bolts is sometimes easier but the lowers are safer in the long run so you don't strip threads on one of the motor block holes). Make sure your radiator hoses don't pull too tight either. You might have to drain the antifreeze and take the hoses off so you don't bend the connectors or break the solder, etc. on the radiator. Check that no wires will stretch too when you lift it. Last - loosen your transmission mount a little so it doesn't get pulled too hard. Then remember what you took apart when you're done and put it all back together. When the oil pan's off (If you don't have to take the motor out) and you're putting the new gasket on - watch the end seals stay in place - they're tricky sometimes and like to slide out of place when you're putting them up.
