hey all haven't been here for a while. just got some question to ask.

i have a freind who is dropping a 351 with an automatic in his 97 ford ranger that originally came with a 2.3l. the truck is a two wheel drive with a four inch suspension and three inch body lift. has anyone else done this, and if so is there anything to watch out for or take into consideration? any advice is appricated.

That V8 weighs a heck of alot more than the lil 4 banger. So the weight issue is definetly something to watch. And if your state has any of those pesky smog laws you might want to check into them before dumping a ton of money into the project. Sounds like a cool project though. Post some pics of the projects process if you can.

one thing to think about first is.....4 cylinder to and 8 cylinder, the front end is going to sit down when you guys put that motor in, and, the truck's frame is designed for a 4 banger or v6, so you might want to reinforce the frame in the front, and if its a high horsepower 351, think about traction bars, i've seen people do that and snap their leaf springs quick, that and i've seen guys drive home on 3 wheels because the frame twisted so bad, that and theres many other things to think about.... higher pressure fuel pump, new driveshaft, new rear differential......
