Default Hard Starting? Check here first!

I have a 2002 Ranger that has been hard starting for over a year.

The problem is as follows... When the vehicle sits for any period of time, trying to start can be difficult. With the key in the off to on position you will hear a 2-3 second burst of fuel pressure. When you turn it over, it wont start.Turn the vehicle off to on again and repeat. Almost always, the vehicle will start.

To make a long story short, the FUEL PUMP was bad. Or was it? I had 68 PSI of pressure but when the car was in the on position but not running, the fuel pressure would drop to zero! Anyways,I pulled the fuel pump from the tank and found that the submerged wires were rubbing against the clear fuel line within the fuel pump. Basically it just lost prime!

So if you have the same senario as mine, go straight to the pump. I bought mine for 189.00. The pump was still good, but the lines were bad. I hope that this helps you find your problem.

I had the same problem with mine. Mine turned out to be the injectors. I had them cleaned by www.premiuminjectorservices.com and everthing has worked great since then.
