howdy i have a 99 ranger 2.5liter and i was wondering if anyone has put a tach on that motor or the similar 2.3liter.any tips would be greatly appriciated.

To run a tach on a distributorless ignition, you'll need to add a tach adapter.. Here's the autometer version for reference.. Others available.. http://www.egauges.com/vdo_acce.asp?...r&Manf=All

cool thanx man but would u plug into the intake or exhaust coil pack?

Good question!

Since it's reading/using the the 12V current source to the coil probably wouldn't make a difference..
