Default Knocks after 20 minute drive

1989 4x4 xlt 2.9 auto, shows 112000 miles. Hey folks need the advice of this site. After a brief drive my old truck has a slight knock on the drivers side of the engine. I can't tell if its top or bottom. after it sits briefly the noise is gone .I change oil every 3000-3500 and use Motocraft filters. Any ideas Thanks

Thanks for your reply, It sometimes knocks/ticks upon start up but stops after a few minutes, Often after a highway drive it knocks a little while driving and idling. Would an engine cleaner like MMO or Rislone help to clean out oil passages?

well it sounds more of a lifter going bad than a plugged oil port .THE only problem is that the cleaners can nock deposits loose that are not blocking any thing. Then you could end up worse off
