manifold runner stuck

Default manifold runner stuck

Newbee here. I have 20034 cylinder ranger with check engine light on.Does anyone know what the intake manifold runner stuck open is and how to fix this problem?

The intake runner is a set of butterflies used to tune the intake manifold for more performance. It is computer controlled by a servo usually mounted in the front of the intake manifold with a rod running into the intake. When you rev the engine you should see it move.

Thanks for the info. I don't see anything on the front of the engine but near the firewall under the intake I can see what looks like a diaphram mounted directly to the manifold and I can't see the rod that moves the flapper.I guess I will have to remove the manifold to get to this flapper.

It is not a diaphram, it is a servo. It will have electrical connections only. The rod runs in to the manifold just above where it makes contact with the head. I am not sure of the 4 cyl but this is how it is mounted on the 6 cyl
