More Blower Motor Problems
First off, as I thanked everyone in the Ford-Trucks.com site, I want to thank everyone in this great forum for helping me thus far. I am a complete novice to fixing cars, and by all of your kind and generous time, I have done the following myself on my '95 ranger 2.3 5speed(my wife is absoultely shocked!):
PCV Valve, Fuel Filter, IAC Valve, MAF Sensor clean, TB clean, Blower Motor Resistor and Blower Motor Switch. So....thank you!
Now to my problem, My blower motor will no longer work! When I got the truck a couple of weeks ago, it didn't work. So, after replacing the Blower Motor Resistor (because it was rusty looking), and the Blower Motor Switch...my blower worked great! The next morning when I got into the truck, nothing. It was like it never worked. Thinking it is now the blower motor that was bad, I bought (and returned) an aftermarked Blower Motor (Siemens). I looked it up in the parking lot at Oreilly and it didn't work. What am I not seeing here? I really need to get this fixed before the cold season kicks in.
Once again, many thanks.
Dave

RE: More Blower Motor Problems
Hea Apollo.[hr]Do you have a test light or a meter?[hr]If so I would pull out the heater controll and check for power at the fan switch.[hr]If you have power there go to the resistors.[hr]From the resistors you should have power to the fan.[hr]If no power at the fan switch(with key on)trace the wire to fuse box.

RE: More Blower Motor Problems
Here's where I am thus far:
The blower motor doesn't work, no matter what speed I put the fan on.
I just spent the past 3 hours under the hood of the truck and did the following:
1. Took off the blower motor and made sure all of the connectors looked okay. I canned air sprayed the connections on both the fan and the wires.
2. Took off the blower motor resistor to ensure that it wasn't already burnt out and made sure the connections looked okay. I canned air sprayed these connections too.
3. I removed the radio and air/head assembly and ensure that the blower motor switch was okay. I even swapped it out with another brand new one I had. I cleaned these connections too.
4. I swapped the relays around and pulled the 40amp fuse to make sure it was okay. It was.
5. I pulled the #2 fuse (10 amp) and made sure it was okay. It was.
6. I put everything back together and the only thing that kicks on is the compressor, nothing from the blower motor.
Last week, I took the motor to Autozone. A guy there was kind enough to do the direct wire hookup and the motor kicked on. The strange thing was the very first time I put that new switch on, everything worked great. It wasn't until the next morning it just stopped working. Remember, I already tried another blower motor today too. Nothing. I looked at all of the connections. Nothing looks melted or fried. I am about to cave in and bring it somewhere, but I don't think they will find it either. Now the only thing I didn't try was one of those meter thingys (I have ZERO clue how to use them). I am not sure how to hook it up, if I have to test it while everything is connected, how to set it, etc.
So, there's where I am. Any...and I mean ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

RE: More Blower Motor Problems
Use a test light it is easyer.[hr]Simply connect it to ground (bare metal)In the truck or negitive on the battery (same thing)and check for positive current by probing the connections with the tip of the test light.[hr]To check for ground use the same prosses but connect the test light wire to positive insted of ground and probe the ground wire.[hr]Also the fuse for the blower motor should be a green 30 amp.[hr]And when you put the connections back together check to make shure the wire is not comming loose from the plug when pushing the connection back on.[hr]This happened a few time's to me before.

RE: More Blower Motor Problems
I just bought a test light. Again, never used it before. So my questions are:
1. Do I have to disconnect any of the plugs (ex. the blower motor power connector plug to the blower motor), or should I leave them connected where the wires actually go into the connector?
2. Do I have to turn on the vehicle? If so, so I turn on the blower switch, or does current run there regardless?
Sorry for the elementary questions, but I know I will feel great when I isolate the problem.
Also, I am not sure about other years, but the fuse in my manaul for a '95 calls for a 10 amp fuse in the fuse box and a 40amp in the big box under the hood.
Thank you sooooo much for your help!
Dave
