neutral safety switch keeps breaking
1991 ford ranger, 3.0, manual
I replaced the clutch, master and slave cylinders and bled everything. I don't have to depress the clutch all the way to the floor to engage the gears. But when I do, the clutch pedal position switch breaks. I've learned not to depress the clutch all the way to the floor, but when I went to get it inspected, the inspector pushed it to the floor and broke it so he failed the vehicle.
When I push the clutch pedal to the floor, the insides of the switch break up, Like the springs are depressed as far as they can but the shaft wants to keep going and the plastic plunger that depress the springs break, so I have to buy a new one. Is the clutch pedal not suppose to go to the floor? I have looked for adjustment controls but cant find any and there is only one way the safety switch can go on.
Any Ideas?
