POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK
Hi, I just bought a 1997 FORD RANGER, 4 cyl. 5 speed, plain jane. I have a power steering leak.
I am disabled, live on a very limited income. Bought it, drove it 12 miles on freeway, steering was hard to turn when I reached home, and smelled like a burnt trans? I think the smell was PS FLUID on the hot engine? Any ideas where it may be leaking, the steering was fine, then I lost fluid from somewhere? My income is nothing, just wondering where it could be leaking from, I just had a titanium rod put in my neck, cant bend to look. Do you think I am looking at an expensive repair?
Thanks for any advice!

RE: POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK
hey i'd check the connections on the pump and the hoses. look where the lines run they may have had something fly up and cut on of em. i'd ask one of the mechanics to check it out if you can't find anything it shouldn't cost that much.

RE: POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK
I don't where your located but $75.00 seems a little high priced.....I would think around $45-60 BUT if it is a dealer that price sounds right, or just a large well known business. The price of the hose seems right, your lucky thats all it is because the pumps are expensive for the truck.
