Ranger starts with a push but not with the key
This is a 1993 Ford Ranger and for some reason it will start readily if it's push started however when you try to start it using the key the engine just cranks and cranks. Anyone out there have any ideas? I don't mind parking on a hill but snow is comming!

RE: Ranger starts with a push but not with the key
Almost got to be a problem with your ignition switch, but a little concerning why you can turn to run position and get engine to run on push start. I would still think ignition swich.

if you want to test my answer to your problem turn
your switch to on take a screwdriver and jump your silenoid
across . the small wire to the starter wire . if the collum
switch is bad it will start.thats how i started mine for a
while till i git the switch back.
let me know how it goes.that screwdriver will save a lot
of pushing
