Default Squeeky Belt

Just bought 2000 Ford Ranger. The fan belt is always squeeking. The previous owner replaced the belt and the idler pulley, and I replaced the idler pulley again. The noise is still there. Anyone have any ideas?

what all does the belt drive ?, I would try turning the pullys on any other componets, see if they turn freely or if they seem to have a rough spot in them.

I've seen lots of alt. brg. be bad an squeak , squill like a banneshe
an same thing with water pump brg.

If every thing seems ok , try cleaning all the pulley grooves, get some componet cleaner an give them a good bath, an make sure the belt is running true in all the grooves

Ive seen where ppl have changed something like alt , p/s an not get it lined up correct an cause the belt to ride off center

check the tensioner they tend to tilt inward and make the belts squeal is a common problem most times you replace the belt and if you dont replace the tensioner you are starting over and over.

Thanks for the tips. I went ahead and bought a new fan belt tensioner assembly and installed it. It took about 10 minutes to take the old part out and put the new one in, and no more sqeek. Thank you hockeyhitman69, I could've had a lot of heart ache without your advise.
