CODE 224 IS KICKING MY ***, "POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE DETECTED COIL 1 2 3 4 PRIMARY CIRCUIT FAILURE" OK I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, I HAD 4 CODES NOW JUST 1, I WENT TO THE JUNKYARD GOT THE PRIMARY COIL & THAT LITTLE RESISTOR THING ATTACHED TO THE COIL & INSTALLED IT, I GOT ANOTHER CHANCE TO SCAN IT & IT WAS STILL THERE, THEN I FIND THAT 2 PLUG WIRES DO NOT GET SPARK FROM THE COIL I FIGURE IT WAS JUNKYARD STUFF I GOT A BRAND NEW COIL & IT STILL DOESN'T SPARK ON THOSE 2 IF YOU TEST IT WITH A LIGHT THE OTHER 2 PULSE THE 2 THAT DON'T FIRE HAVE A SOLID LIGHT, SO WHAT TELLS IT TO FIRE THE COIL THE COMPUTER (PCM) ? THINK IT MIGHT BE THE WIRE OR COMPUTER OR WHAT? HELP PLEASE....

HELLO, CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS? WHAT ARE THE ACTUAL COLORS OF THE 3 WIRES ON THE PLUG THAT GOES TO THE PRIMARY COIL, ON A 93 RANGER 2.3L MINE ARE REALLY HARD TO TELL AFTER CLEANING, I THINK LOOKING AT THE PLUG, THE LEFT WIRE IS TAN OR WHITE W/ BLUE STRIPE, CENTER WIRE IS RED W/ GREEN STRIPE, WIRE TO THE RIGHT IS TAN OR WHITE W/GREEN STRIPE, ALSO WHERE DO THEY GO? I COULDN'T FIND THOSE GOING TO THE P.C.M. AFTER UNWRAPPING THE HARNESS, IF YOU HAVE A MANUAL OR ACCESS PLEASE CHECK THIS FOR ME. THANKS!

Try calling your local ford dealer and ask to speak to parts see if they can fax you a wiring diagram for that component ask him also if he knows of anything of this problem(good parts guys always know of common breaking items by make/year) and then ask if you could speak to an expeirienced mechanic and explain your problem( they are usually very helpful )
