RE: Useful Life
Well, I am talking about older models. My 4 banger 93 ranger had close to 150,000 miles on it when I got rid of it, the only thing that was going out was the clutch, but wouldn't consider that a real problem at that many miles.
The 90 V6 4.0 liter I have now has close to 90,000 miles on it with no real problems. Runs great still. It has had 2 owners. My great uncle and now me.

My 1990 2.9 V6 is pushing 188,000 miles and is running strong! The only major repairs have been a rebuilt automatic tranny, and recharging the AC. My dads ford Bronco II (same power train as Ranger) ran for well over 100,000 miles before the head gasket went out. I'd recomend a Ranger, however, it all depends on how well you take care of the vehicle!

any newer vehicle should be able to make it to 150,000 with proper upkeep. My last 3 vehicles have had over 200,000 miles on them when I finally got rid of them. '92 escort, '01 F-350, and a '02 4-cyl ranger. Not major work required on any of them. I replaced timing belts, shocks/struts and a water pump on the escort, but thats it other than basic maintance.
