Default Wheel Bearing replacement

I have a 2002 4WD 4-wheel ABS ranger. I am 99% sure that my front right wheel bearing is shot. Sounds like an airplane and tire guys says there is some play in the wheel, to be double checked this weekend by me. I am probably moving into the city soon and would sell the truck and do not want to spend alot of money on it. But a seized bearing is not any fun to deal with while driving. I figured hey that is fine, I can replace it for minimal cash. I went to autozone and they told me that the part alone was $277. This also has the hub assembly attached. AZ says they only sell that. I was wondering if you can buy just the bearings for a more reasonable cost? If so, where? Also is there any special tools for doing the job? I did bearings on an 1987 ranger back in 94 or so with what I ahve on hand at the house.

Thanks a lot guys,
Russ

Only way it comes. Hub and bearing assembly. Work for ford, sell them to Autozone.

If you are looking to repair and sell you could try and pull it from a junk yard??

Found an aftermarket part on ebay. Neighbor used the same thing in his truck and no issues yet. It was $100 and supposedly free replacement if it fails. We will see. Thanks for the info guys.

I have actually replaced both of my front hubs with $105 ones from ebay. My truck rides nice and smooth and no longer sounds like a Cessna ariplane on the highway. For the money a very good buy. The job itself was pretty straight forward, toughest par was fitting the breaker bar and sockets on the nuts holding the hubs due to the CV boot. Took me about 2 hours, not bad for an amateur taking his time. I hope this helps other people.
