Default Key will not turn

I have a Ford Explorer Sport Trac and my key will not turn. I have tried turning the steering wheel, but that is not working. It is liked the key is locked up and the will not turn. Any suggestions? We did try making sure the truck was in park, but that still did not make a difference. Any help?

I had this problem with my focus. I'm nost sure if you want to try this, but I took a hammer and hit the key (not too hard, but hard enough) to loosen the tumbler up to turn so i could drive it to the dealership and have them replace it. I knew mine was bad which is why i did it, and it cost me $165 bucks or so to get it replaced.

sometimes they are just stubborn. you might just have to put a little muscle into it. otherwise your ignition will have to be replaced kind of a common occurance just kind of spendy.

It is most likely the lock cylinder. They are common to go bad.
