1999 Ford Taurus Misfire
So lately my 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0 Push-Rod has been giving me headaches. It started with a slight misfire. It was a come and go. Finally it was all the time. So I replace all the spark plugs and wires. It ran fine for about a week. Driving late at night it starts doing it once again. (Highway Driving 75 or so) So I had a coil pack switched it and it worked fine once again. 3 days later same problem put the old coil pack back and its running perfect again. Few hours later fails again. So then I decided to clean the IAC (Ignition Air Control) runs fine for 10 mins. And ONCE again. It starts to misfire. The misfire is not as pronounced as before but it is still there. The spark plugs were in good condition and the car has good compression also.Has anyone experienced this problem already? And how did you fix it? Any tips are welcomed. thanks

Is there any chance to have the PCM checked for any codes. Quite a few auto stores will do this as a free service I believe Autozone is one of them. There just may be a code in there that will possibly pinpoint which cylinder is causing the misfire. It could also be a random misfire, but it helps to narrow the problem down.

HA. Well in the lovely state California no store is permitted to check codes. Well today the Service Engine Light turned on. After about two hours of driving the misfire is really horrible. There is a light smell of gasoline at times. I am now believing that it could be an injector???

The longer the vehicle is driven with a misfire and the SE light on, the greater the chance to do damage to the converters. Some engines are programmed to disable an injector if for example there is a faulty spark plug. The sooner you get it checked, the better.
