Default 2000 Taurus AX4S problems.

Hello group and thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

I run a used auto parts/auto repair facility in Pennsylvania and have run into a puzzling issue. I sold one of these tranny's to a customer. It came out of a wreck that still ran/drove and the transmission had a "Ford Quality Renewal" sticker on it.

After about 2 weeks, the customer calls me and tells me that his mechanic says that the transmission seems to be acting the way it should, however it is throwing all four shift codes (PO743, 750, 755, 760) and for this reason, cannot pass for state inspection. The codes were cleared but immediately came back after another test drive. I have checked for the obvious, HEGO fuse, bad connections at the transmission plug and at the PCM. Everything there seems to be fine. I did NOT, however, trace any wiring back... yet.

I have read in other places where these transmissions have an issue with the shift solenoid harness rubbing through on the inside of the valve body pan. Other than this, I cannot see anything else being the problem. However, I sure do not want to go through the pain of digging into it if I don't have to.

Any insight?

There are people on this site that are more knowlegible than I ,but it would seem what ever is causing the problem is common to the entire electrical circuit controlling the trans functions. One thing that can do this is the Trans range sensor. If it is messed up it controls all shifting including the converter clutch . Might be something to look into.
