2000 Taurus SE--A/C blows hot
Everything seems to be working appropriately regarding the a/c EXCEPT the air blows hot even when set on cool/60 degrees. I did a code test by pressing 'off' and 'floor' at the same time and then releasing them and pressing 'automatic'...the codes that came up are 051 and 053.
I am a single mom with 4 kids and I really need to fix this myself , so if you could explain things in a way that a "normal" person would understand I would be so grateful!

Okay a few questions beforeI can diagnose the problem specifically. Okay, actually a single question.
Is the air hot all the time or does it turn cool after awhile or does it start cool and then turn warm?
Also have you noticed any strange liquids pooling up under your car?

With both codes 51 and 53, the sunload sensor is at fault. Part is approximately 25 dollars and takes around 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to replace. It is located under the defroster grill. Good luck and I admire you for mwanting to do it on your own.
