Default 2002 SES Dog Leg Rust

Hi,
My wife's 2002 SES just truned 100K miles and is running great. We have maintained the car and am quite happy with it. BUT....the dog legs are popping on both sides. The drivers side is worse but they both need repaired this year. What is the best repair on this issue? Do I want to repair this car or sell it and start over? Thanks in advance!

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site..

How bad is the rust through, where it's now a structurally problem? or just more cosmetic? Just to the jamb area, or worse? Can you put up a few images so we can get an idea?

95crownvic,

What do you mean by "dog legs"? Just never heard that term the way you are using it.

Default 2002 SES Dog Leg Rust

Hi,

@Hayapower --Will work on uploading pictures of the doglegs. They will be denoted as passXXXX for passenger side. And drvsXXX for drivers side

@JackC - the 'dogleg' is the body area between the rear doors and the rear wheels.

When someone was very careful and maintained the car well, I'll bet they called it by some other names too!

aw heck, that's nothin! I have a '99 with over 260,000 mi and the 'wheel wells', (that's what we call them) are far worse than that. on the right-hand side of this car the square tube that is forward of the rear wheel that is notched for the jack is half rusted away.
