2003 Taurus fuel problem
I have a problem with my check engine light coming on and a code that reads low fuelrail pressure. The engine will start sputtering and sometimes even die. I can turn the key off and on a few times, start the engine and it will run fine for awhile. This seems to only happen when I have a quarter of a tank. I've changed the fuel filter and it didn't correct the problem. I've put a can of Sea Foam in the tank thinking I might have gotten water in it. Work for a week but light came back on and it all started again. Any advice is appreciated.

I have te same problem. Tanks gets down to 1/4 and the engine sputters and the car runs like it is running out of gas or maybe like it is only using a few cylinders; goes about 10 miles an hour. Top it off and it runs great. Had fuel filter replaced . No help. Anyone got a clue?

RE: 2003 Taurus fuel problem
Im guessing your fuel sending unit is bad. It's possible there is a hole or a crack somewhere in the pickup tube and when the level gets low enough, it will start to draw air and fuel past the problem part of the tube. Hope it helps and let us know if that was the problem if you attempt fixing it.
