2003 Taurus Tranmission
Hello,
My grandmother drove her 2003 Ford Taurus to work. When she went to leave, the car wouldn't move in any gear, like the automatic transmission wasn't shifting. They later noticed a large puddle of transmission fluid on the ground.
I looked around underneath and just above where the fluid filler tube meets the transmission, there is a little hole that goes into the transmission that looked cleaner than the rest of the transmission. Is this where some sort of plug would go? We tried putting more fluid it in, but we could not get it to take any more than 2 or 3 quarts, nor could we get it to leak any more, or move.
We have a theory, that perhaps the filter, or the solenoid pack may have clogged up and caused backpressure which could have blown this little 'plug' out causing the transmission to lose all of its fluid. It seems that the fluid isn't making it to the top of the transmission.
I do not know enough about these transmissions to know if this is likely the problem or not. Does anyone here have any ideas?
Thanks
