2007 Fotd Taurus SE-Clicking Sound
I've seen similar threads to this topic, but mine is a bit different, I think.
I've been on vacation. I hadn't started my car since I arrived her Monday afternoon. Yesterday morning, I'm ready to begin my trip home (about 350 miles), but my car isn't ready. Its starts clicking.
The motel staff is very helpful; they jump the car. It starts, but I shut it off and try restarting it; no luck. BTW, the lights, radio, air, etc work fine.
I have AAA jump it. The AAA guy thinks its the alternator, says the voltage is only at 11% instead of 13. Another part time mechanic thinks its an alternator; another a solinoid (sp?).
All the auto parts shops and garagers are closed over the weekend, so we can't really check.
For laughs, I try starting the car last night. It started. Again, this morning. So, I tried a 3rd time at noon. Started the car; left the lights, the radio, and the air all on to see what happens. After about 15 mins; I turn it off. I'm planning to see if it starts again, and then I would drive it for a few miles and see what happens. Unfortunately, after I turn it off, it goes back to clicking when I try to start (lights, radio, etc still work).
