'94 Taurus Wagon - Rear Window Hinges
My '94 Taurus wagon has a broken hinge on the back window glass. It rattles and it leaks. I went to a salvage yard to get another hinge, but couldn't figure out how to remove it without ruining the part. Does anyone know how to remove a hinge and what's involved in replacing one?

If you're talking about the window lift,on a '97 you have to use a small screwdriver to pry a locking spring clip out of the upper end of the window lift. Then you remove this upper end from the ball stud. Then on the bottom end there is a retaining ring on the outside and pin on the insidethat need to be removed to finally remove the window lift.
If you're talking about the hinges that hold the rear liftgate window, again - on a '97 - you have to remove the upper and lower trim on the liftgate to gain access to a nut and washer that holds the hinge down. The nut/washer unscrews from the inside. Re-tighten to 5-7 Nm (45-61 Lb-in) on re-install...

Thanks! This helps. I'm having trouble locating a hinge. Ford has stopped selling them. I was at the salvage yard, but it was getting dark and it seems all the wagons had their hatches closed. Crawling around in a wrecked car in the dark seems risky. Needless to say, I'll have to go back and try again.

Have you tried this site:
http://www.car-part.com/
It's a junk yard database that you can search geographically. If you can't drive to the junkyard to pick the part up, they'll mail it to you. The problem you may run into with this hinge you're looking for is some junkyards may not want to sell it to you if the rest of the liftgage is still intact. So you might be looking for a rear-damaged Taurus ...
