I have a 96 ford taurus. It goes forward but not in reverse. When this first started the OD light would come on. Sometimes it would go in to reverse if you pressed the OD switch. But now no luck. Some say that it's the trans, some say that it's an electrical problem. What do you think, should I just drop it off at the trans shop?! Help please!

 

A trans. shop will have the expensive computers and know-how to check for an electrical problem. I'd say it would be good to tell them put in new oil and filter and flush the tranny cooler lines. It may still require a full teardown aftr that though - so find out all the prices before you decide but at the same time decide quick because you shouldn't drive it like that. A fuse, bad vacuum hose or leakycooler line or hoseto the trans. are the only things you can really check yourself and fix easy.
