I have a 96 taurus with the dohc v6. 96,000 miles about 40,000 on the trans. The car runs and drives fine. On the way to work today the overdrive light started to blink on and off. And the car felt like it was bucking or going in and out of overdrive. I pulled over and put my code reader on it but in my hurry to get to work I accidentally erased the codes. Any ideas what could be the problem, what goes wrong to cause this situation. I know to fix it correctly I will have to get the code back up.

I got the blinking overdrive light today. I hooked up the scanner and no codes were present. It cleared itself and then came back, I did the scanner again and no code.
Any ideas.

 

i'd also like to know the answer to this.
