97 Taurus intermittent wiper "random" delay
I recently bought this 97, and have been seeing a small issue with the intermittent wipers.
On all intermittent speeds and low speed, the delay time between wipes seem to randomly speed up or slow down. For instance, at low speed, the wipers should work at a constant speed, but occasionally an extra delay of a second or two gets thrown in. I don't know if this is by design or some electrical problem, and I'm reasonably sure that rain sensing wipers didn't exist on Taurus' in 97.
If it's a design "feature", it's very annoying as it throws in that extra delay at the worst possible times ie: when passing a semi in the rain and caught in the tire spray, etc.
Any thoughts?

My '97 GL wagon (3.0 Vulcan), bought brand new, has been doing this same thing for years. Don't know if it has ALWAYS been that way, but I noticed it several years ago. Sometimes the delay is SOOO long that it can fool me into thinking the wipers have turned off all together. I think it's a bug in the software. It's like the wiper logic misses an interrupt on it's regular interval, it gets queued up, and then gets two quick interrupts in a burst. Logic was probably coded by an intern college student...
In any event, I don't consider it a major problem. If the rain isn't getting cleared off the windshield sufficiently, I just bump it up to the next interval level.
