Default AC Compressor Coil

I have the Compressor free, but I cannot get it out of the car. I've tried the wheel well, removed upper and lower rad pipes, water inlet pipe, etc. I have the clutch and pulley off of the compressor, but the magnetic coil is not coming off easy (especially since I can't free it from the car). I was planning on replacing the coil, pulley and clutch. Is there an easy way to get the coil off (while it is still in the car) or is there a way to test if the existing coil is still OK? Thanks!

Thank you:

I only had to pull the Compressor Unit on my 2000 Taurus Sel one time... The Gentleman you need to PM is Way2old he is quite knowledgeable in this than me.

I will tell you how I did it tho...if that will help?

Remove the Drive Belt.
Remove the right hand cooling fan.
disconnect the power steering hose from the pump and remove the nut securing the hose to the Front exhaust manifold.
Remove the refrigerant manifold and the tubing from the rear of the compressor
Disconnect the electrical connectors at the compressor clutch and at the pressure cutoff switch.
disengage the wiring harness from the compressor bracket and move th harness aside
Remove the compressor mounting Bolts(Note on top left hand mounting bolt must come out with the compressor
remove the compressor from its bracket.
Left it up from the front of the engine.

Hope this helps...if not please advise...

Is this the 4 valve engine or the 2 valve? 4 valve is way more complicated. I think it has to come out from under the vehicle. Here is instructions for 4 valve. Six is real close on the 2 valve engine. Good luck. If just the clutch coil is all that is stopping you, there is a snap ring that holds it in place. Then it will come off. If it is a Sanden compressor. If it is what is called the FS 10, it needs a puller to remove it. Without seeing the compressor and having numbers from it, I can not tell you which one you have.

Thanks for the help. I got the compressor out. I had to remove both radiator fans and take it up closer to the driver side. In the process I removed a hard metal pipe that feeds into the water pump from the bottom. The part was very corroded and I really need to replace anyway. Does anybody happen to know what this part is called or have a part number handy, etc? Thanks!
