Brake switch 2004 wagon
My car wouldn't start even with the remote starter. When I did finally get it started, I couldn't get it out of park. When I turned the car off I noticed the brake lights were on. When I stepped on the brake pedal, the lights went off and when I took my foot off the brake pedal the lights went back on. They stayed on all night. Battery went dead. Was able to turn key to Acc mode I was able to put the car into neutral.
I was told at the dealership that because the brake lights were not working correctly, the car wouldn't start. And since the lights were on all night my battery was drained and the car didn't have enough power to start. Doesn't make sence to me as the car wouldn't start in the first place and then the brake lights acted funny.
Can anyone explaine the brake switch and how it works? Thanks
