Flex Fuel Taurus vs. Premium Gas

Flex Fuel Taurus vs. Premium Gas
I have a 2000 Taurus flex fuel that really seems to run better on premium gas (runs smoother, faster, a lot more fun to drive). Now I've read in many places that cars that are not designed for premium will NOT run better on premium. I didn't think this car was one of those. I've taken it to the dealer, and they seem to find nothing wrong with it.
Does anyone know if there is a "fix" for this (other than to keep using premium)? On the other hand, is there any harm done by using premium? Since this car can run on anything from regular to 80% ethanol, maybe tha has something to do with it.
Any ideas or solutions?

RE: Flex Fuel Taurus vs. Premium Gas
vehicles are programed to run on regular gas and not premiums they will still run on different octane levels for example if i were to do a fuel economy test on your car if would automatically set as regular gas.and the only harm is to your pocket book
