Ford Thunderbird Starting in the 1950s, this was a classic American sports cars, from the compact original of the 1950s, to the muscular hard top coupes of the 1980s and 1990s to the retro look of the 2003 model year, this car is, and always will be, an American classic.

Default 84" thunderbird help!!

I'm kinda new to older vicheals, so excuse my ignorance please

About a week ago i bought a 84" thunderbird turbo coupe with plans on making it into my new daily driver (my5.4L isent cutting it).

Heres a few questions I have...

Where is the BOV located in the engine bay?

I cant find what liter it is...Its astraight4 cylinder EFIwith twin turbos.
Does anyone know how i can find out? No owners manual...

Also my boost light and over-power light works when i start it up but doesnt work when im driving. What do you think? Am i not driving fast unuff? lol

Thanks for your time!!

The wastegate or BPV (ByPass Valve) is usually on/in the turbo itself. It regulates the boost andexhaust pressure/flow. The actuator is a vacuum operated valve on the turbo. The valve would be a good place to look as a 20+ year old diaphragm (if original) would be prone to rot like in any older turbo. I think a BOV (BlowOff Valve) is used in superchargers? Not sure if turbos have them? (Although maybe they should after what I saw one turbo do). 4 cylinder turbos in T-bird were in most cases (unless non-factory) 2.3 Liter engines. Maybe not driving fast enough? (unless you've flattened the pedal to the floor on takeoff from a dead stop to test). Twin turbo????? I knew about the single deals - didn't hear about those. A single turbo has two turbine housings. One inflow and one outflow -- ??? Maybe that's the confusion?
