How do I configure new alarm control for 97 t-bird?
I recently purchased a used remote to use with my 1997 Thunderbird. It has a factory installed alarm that controls the door locks/alarm. I have looked all over but have not been able to find the instructions on how to set up for use. HELP NEEDED, PLEASE.

RE: How do I configure new alarm control for 97 t-bird?
I Purchased a new remote control which had the following instructions:
1)Access program connector located in the trunk left rear quarter panel area(driver's side).
2)Momentarily jump the program connector using a paper clip. The doors should lock and then unlock to confirm system has entered programming mode.
3)Remove the jumper clip from the program connector
4)Press any button on the first remote transmitter. The doors should lock then unlock.
5)Press any button on the second remote transmitter. The doors should lock and then unlock. (Continue proceedure up to 4 transmitters) Note if door locks do not operate press button again up to a maximum of three times.
6)Switch ignition off. Doors should lock then unlock.
These proceedures are suppose to be the same for 93 to 97 TBirds with remote keyless entry capability.
Based on the instructions the connector appears to have two large holes with a number 1 & 2 next to the holes. The connector also appears to be about 1.5 inches across with the holes about 3/4 inch apart. A plastic barb sticks out of the connector to allow it to snap into a 5/16 hole.
I have not attempted looking or trying out this technique yet. I also noted they have you switching off the ignition but never told you to switch it on in the first place!!!
Hope this at least steers you in the right direction...........Don
