Default 1994 cruise control

hi, my name is nathan. i was hopeing someone could point me in a good direction to start. i have 1994 f150 4x4 ex-cab, short bed, 351, 190,000 miles. cruise doesnt work. i have checked every fuse. the only bad one i found was a big 30 amp under the hood, and i cant really tell you what it did. every thing on the truck works as far as i know, except the cruise. any ideas on a good place to start. i havnt the slightest idea where to start with that. too bad the motor isnt knocking or the trans junk. i would know what to do with them. help be greatly appreciated.
thnx

Hi Nathan..

Take a look at this wiring diagram/schematic and check your system for power 'not only' at the fuses but through the brake switches/clutch switch (if standard) as a start point.. It's 96 but should be similiar.. Could be the brake 'pressure switch' out on the end of the master cylinder.. It's function is 'normally closed' and there has been problems with them burning/corroding and going 'open' removing current to the servo as if canceled.. Could be the clock spring (especially with that many miles) tape is broken/seperated, fuses/circuit/s, or even the servo assembly..

Sometimes you have to figure out what the problem 'isn't' before you can find out what it is..

Hope this helps...

Do you have any light on with the cc switch, might be as simple as vacum line being rotted off cc servo?

i took the steering wheel slightly apart to get to the on off switch for the cruise and there is power to the on switch. i did notice somewhere someone said something about the airbag light flashing ou 32 which is the clock spring code. i did notice that light flashing while i was driving down the road, but i didnt have time to count all the flashes. but the horn works. i would have guessed the horn shouldnt work if the spring was faulty, but ive been known to be wrog before. im gonna check out that switch on the master cylinder. not exactly sure how, but i'll give it a shot. i didnt notice any vaccum line to the cruise brain box, and there is no light on related to the cruise.

The Servo/Controller doesn't have any vacuum connections.. It's an electro/mechanical component..

The clockspring is a 'muti ribboned' (muti circuited) coiled tape that carries mutiple functions/circuits.. You can loose just one of the circuits, or more..

The brake pressure swith is normally closed, so you can 'jump' the harness connection to test the switch, or, check for voltage going in, and out...

i have power to the on switch of the cruise. would that rule out the spring, or ribbon. can i test somehow the other side of that switch. it has on/off on the left side of air bag, resume set accel all that on the right side. i pulled the plug off the switch on the end of the master cylinder and jumped it together ran it down the road, same thing. i called the dealer, there is no relay listed for it. i tried, but i dont guess i could get that lucky.and i pulled every fuse out i could see under dash and under hood. all good. next.
thnx
nathan
