1994 Tempo Stalling
My mom needs some help with her 1994 Ford Tempo. It has appox. 94,000 miles
on it. It stalls while driving without warning. It will restart after about
15-20 minutes. She has taken it to 3 garages, including 1 Ford garage (but I
don't think that they looked at it because they didn't charge her). They
have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, computer, distributor and cap, the
module, and the harness. The mechanic that has it now has been driving it
and says that it's getting worse. They don't know what else to do with it.
PLEASE, WE NEED HELP!!!

RE: 1994 Tempo Stalling
STOP!!! Why have ya'll spent so much money of this thing? I'd be madder then he!! if some mechanic just kept shootgunning it. That no way to troubleshoot problems. Gas engines only need a few things to run, fuel/air, spark, and timming. The mechanics job is to find which one is causing the problem. Timming not the problem if the car runs at all. A fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and a noid light on a injector can check for fuel problems. If good, then spark is the only other thing, but you say they replaced the distributor. There is a module in the dist. that can go bad and kill the car. My best guess without T/Sing it is the crank position sensor. I've seen them on other vehicles cause intermitent stalls. good luck.
