1995 Ford F350 Injector question
Hey! I have a 1995 Ford F-350 7.3 L diesel powerstroke. I was told that my #3 injector was bad and needs replacing. I've ordered the injector and am going to replace it myself to save money. How do i know which injector is the #3 injector? Thanks!

Cylinder arrangement is 1-3-5-7 front to back on the right/passenger side,, 2-4-6-8 on the left/driver side. The reman. injectors usually come with the seals loose, if so, install them exactly as detailed in the instructions. If your truck hasn't had the injectors re sealed (early PSD's had seal/o-ring issues with some age and mileage) it may be a good time to do the complete bank thats getting the new injector.. Or not, but the right valve happens to be the harder of the two to remove with A/C. Also,, be 'sure' to check the UVC harness, stub harness (under the valve cover/s) and valve cover gasket connectors. Early PSD love to burn the connections and may look like a failed injector.
Reason being on the injector/seal change,, when the injector is removed, the oil in the head chamber will run into the cylinder bore and 'MUST' be removed before the new injector is installed. Either use the drain plug at the backside of the head,, other option,, is to remove the glow plug on that cylinder and 'hand crank' the engine over to push the oil out. Once the majority of the oil has been expelled, you can cover the glow hole with a rag and use the starter to blow out as much oil as possible. The head/chamber can be drained, but its about as easy to just evacuate the oil from the cylinder through the injector nozzle hole in the head.
If you just remove the injector, install a new one, and crank the engine over it will hydro-lock and can easily bend a rod..
