Default 1997 Ford ThunderBird Blows Heat

It is starting to get warm here in Korea and many times when I kick the Air Conditioning on and turn the Temperture as low at the Climate Control will go (15 C) all it does is blows hot air. If I were getting just regular outside temperature air coming through I might be inclined to think that the Air Conditioner control or the Compressor itself was going bad, but it is clearly heated air as if it was still going through the Heater Core.

Many times if I just stop the car and turn it off and back on again, the problem will correct itself and the AC works fine. But lately it is getting worse. More times it puts out hot air than it does Cold. When it does blow hot air you can open the hood and see that the compressor is cycling on and off and is not making any noises that would indicate some sort of strain with the compressor or compressor clutch..etc...

So where do I go from here? I would like to get the AC up and going before it really starts to get hot here.

Thank you.

I would start by checking the cold/hot door in the heater box under the dash. While the car is running flip it from cold to hot back and forth to see if you can ear it moving.See if something restricts it from moving.

That makes sense. It looks like for the moment everything seems to be ok with it. I might need a fresh charge of Freon, but for the most part it seems ok now.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Frank.
