2000 f450 7.3 diesel coolant sensor/sending unit
Another prime example of these parts houses not knowing jack. I changed the coolant sensor in my 7.3 diesel three times before they finally sold me the right part. Each time i put the sensor in the gauge would never register. After two different napa brand sensors i put a duralast sensor in with the same result. Found a post on a diesel forum having the same problem. This guy noticed the resistance was significantly different between the old one and the new one. The sensor on a manual tran goes straight to the guage bypassing thd pcm and should have a resistance of about 38k. The one they will sell you is for auto tran and goes to the pcm, reading about 3k. They'll look at you like your stupid when you explain this. I called ford with my vin and got a part number that the parts geniuses could cross reference and we have a winner. Even when i called ford the guy kind of laughed and said he never heard of such a thing.
