Default 5.0 & AOD engine cross reference

Howdy,

I have been searching for a few days and cannot seem to find much useful information on my project. I have a 63 Falcon convertible that I am planning on putting a 5.0 and AOD in. I was looking for a donor 88 to 93 Mustang for parts but was wondering if there are other potential candidates out there. I am looking for a MAF injection vehicle. I can find tons of specs for Mustangs but that is about it and most of the potential donors are beat. I was thinking that maybe a engine and trans from the same era Crown Victoria or Lincoln Town Car would also do. And there are many for about half the price. I was even thinking about an F150. Is there anywhere out there that has complete engine specs maybe even with part numbers? Thanks.

CJ

You do realize that you will need to install the harness, computer etc., to complete this change , right ? It's not that it can't be done, but it's gonna be a lot of work.

Yeah. That's why I am hoping to find a running and driving car and rob all the pieces from it. I am just trying to avoid getting some garbage version that had tons of problems. I found an 88 Cougar with a 5.0 and an AOD but can find no specs of the internals of the motor. I don't know if there were any years that had junk heads or some other common problem.

Even if you get a good engine and parts, you will still need to install the electrical and electronic systems before you will even be able to get the engine to start, then comes shifting and other problems. Are you prepared for that?
Keep in mind you will need to change the fuel tank to accommodate the fuel pump system.

Hence the reason for a running driving car. Not my first rodeo. Just not on a Ford.
